2019-2020 Exchange Program with Beijing Foreign Language School

       With the support from our administrators, teachers and parents, this year our Disney School continuously joins LaSalle Exchange Program with Beijing Foreign Language School. There are altogether 13 students from Disney, LaSalle and LaSalle 2 in the program this year. Our Disney school has four students selected for this program and they are Charlotte S., Gabby G., Noah B. and Ben B. from 8th grade gifted class room 301. 

       For the exchange program, there are two parts: China trip and hosting. The China trip lasted about two weeks from November 9, 2019 to November 22, 2019!

       During 2019 China trip, our students were thoroughly exposed to Chinese language and cultures. They attended varieties of classes in Beijing Foreign Language School, for example, they attended the classes of Mandarin Chinese, Math, English, Sand Arts, National Painting, Calligraphy, Paper Cutting, Seals Carving, Shadow Puppet, Tea Ceremony and Martial arts. They talked to their Chinese partners and host families in Mandarin Chinese as well as communicated with native speakers while eating and shopping there. They explored the capital city Beijing China and understood Chinese history and cultures by visiting places of interests such as Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Tian An Men Square, Olympic Park, the Great Wall, Chinese traditional streets “Hu Tong”, National Museum, Science and Technology Museum. They also worked on the projects such as travel log and research on the differences between the United States and China from different perspectives. Students have not only improved their Chinese proficiency level and broadened their horizons of Chinese history and cultures, but also have built life-long friendship with everybody there! 

      Due to everybody’s hard work and support, 2019 Beijing China trip was another huge success! All of our students came back to Chicago safely with all the beautiful memories and experiences! They are looking forward to hosting their Chinese partners during their Chicago visit from February 1, 2020 to February 13, 2020!

We are pleased to be offering the Tuition Based After-School Program for the 2019-2020 school-year. Students in

Pre-School through eighth grade will be able to participate in the program. Tuition Based After-School will begin the first day of school, and run through the duration of the school-year, ending the last full day of school. The program runs Monday-Friday from 2:30 p.m.-6:00p.m., however, you may pick your child up any time after 2:30 p.m. It is expected that your child will remain in the program throughout the duration of the school year once you sign up. The program will consist of homework support, literacy, academic enrichment, music, art, physical activities and much more! The students are provided a hot snack around 3:30 each day as well!

Students must be picked up by 6:00 p.m. each night. Transportation for this program is the parent’s responsibility, as no bus service will be provided. It is very important that students are picked up on time, as a Late Pick-Up Policy is enforced after 6:00 p.m.

The cost of the program will be $90.00 per week for the first child, $60.00 per week for the second child, and $50.00 per week for the third child. (These fees are subject to change.) No adjustments will be made due to student absences. Payments are made every two weeks, and must be paid in the form of personal check or money order. Please understand that we are unable to accept cash for this program.

Please make sure to list at least two emergency contacts as they will serve as the primary points of contact if we are unable to reach you in case of emergency. Please note After-School is a program we offer to all our students and it is our expectation students meet the behavior and academic expectations of the program. The school reserves the right to remove any student who is a disruption to the academic and learning environment. Parents will be notified about the need for removal by both Kathleen P. Bandolik, Administrator In Charge/Principal and Ms. Pacheco. Late payment is also cause for removal from the program.

NO PAYMENT IS ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME. If you are interested in this program, please fill out the application on the other side. You will receive information over the summer regarding when to make your first payment, and how to reserve a spot for your child. This program tends to fill up quickly, so please convey your interest now, and watch for more information at the end of August in order to make your first payment.
