Applying to Disney

ENROLLMENT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS ACCEPTED THROUGH LOTTERY

General enrollment dates: April 26 – May 2, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Please try to come on your date to avoid crowds; however, you may select an alternate date.  Please print and complete the enrollment documents and bring them to enrollment.  Disney staff will not provide tours during this timeParking is available on the southwest side of the building in the parking lot off of ClarendonParking is free to school visitors during school hours.

Students enrolling in kindergarten must accompany their parent at the time of enrollment so that a brief assessment can be given for reading group placement in September. You should bring current assessment data for students going into grades 1 or 2 in September.

You must bring the following documentation with you when you come to enroll:

  • Your child's original birth certificate
  • Two proofs of address (preferably a current utility bill and Illinois driver's license or state identification card)
  • Medical Records (Medical/Inoculation, Vision, Dental)
  • 2nd Grade: Updated Dental required
  • Students enrolling in kindergarten must accompany their parent!
  • Current assessment data (MAP or DIBELS) for students enrolling in grades 1 and 2.

You must contact the school no later than April 24, 2017, if you are unable to attend any of the aforementioned enrollment dates. Failure to do so will result in the loss of your child's seat.

Enrollment Open House Dates (Lottery) - Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Parents considering Disney for the 2017-18 school year are invited to attend. Notification letters for the magnet lottery were sent by CPS on April 3, 2017. The deadline for accepting offers in the lottery is April 24, 2017.

Disney students in grades K-8 are selected by lottery. Applications are taken annually, during the fall, for the following school year. Tuition Based Preschool Applications for the 2017-2018 school year are available for new and returning students. Applications for the Tuition-Based Preschool are received at the school on an ongoing basis. The 2016-2017 application is still available; we still have a limited number of seats.

2] When can I tour Disney?

Two school tours are scheduled for prospective Disney families during the application window:

Wednesday, October 19 at 9:00 a.m.

Wednesday, November 16 at 9:00 a.m.

Preschool/Early Childhood Center (ECC) tours are offered every Monday morning at 9:00 a.m.


3] Does Tuition Based Preschool replace Disney's Chicago Early Learning preschool program?

The Tuition Based Preschool, a full day program, is in addition to the Chicago Early Learning, half-day preschool program.


4] What is the cost of Tuition Based Preschool?

Tuition for new students for the 2017-2018 school year will be $13,974. A two-week, non-refundable deposit of $700 must accompany the application, along with a copy of the parent’s photo ID. Applications submitted without a deposit will not be considered.
